Once a Dreamer, Now an Achiever
Meeting Ms. Audrey Delizo for the first time was very lively; we were all comfortable talking to her, and she was very easy to talk to, and she is more like a close friend. Ms. Audrey was like an older sister or a barkada that we can talk for hours and talk about what happened to our day. My first impression of Ms. Audrey was, “Wow! she’s gorgeous!” and I was thrilled that we got the chance to interview her and to know more about her life and her experiences.
My groupmate Greysheil was friends with Ms. Audrey on Facebook for quite some time now. I remember grey saying that she was already seeing Ms. Audrey’s posts about her job in ABS-CBN, and she tried to direct message her and ask if she could be interviewed. Luckily she accepted, and then there, she was able to talk about herself and her life working in ABS-CBN.
Ms. Audrey was known for her creativity in writing. She is still working in ABS-CBN. She writes in shows such as the “Magandang Buhay” and “PBB” (Pinoy Big Brother). Ms. Audrey got her job in ABS-CBN by the recruitment workshop held in SLU back when she was still in college. The workshop explores imaginative and creative young people with the abilities and talent to think creatively and uniquely and showcase it.
From hundreds of students also coming from different schools who participated in the workshop to twenty than to only six, including herself and other of her classmates from SLU, got the opportunity to work for the Philippines’ well-known network, ABS-CBN.
As we ask Ms. Audrey what she had contributed to our society, she replied, “Bring service to the Filipino people.” As for Ms. Audrey, she is a writer; she was given a chance to write in a TV talk show, “Magandang Buhay,” there, she writes topics about (Newly moms, married couples, friends, families, third parties). She can put her moral principles and beliefs, her personal thoughts, that she can share with the people who watch the talk show that she believes that she contributed to society.
As we ask Ms. Audrey for life after college, if finding a job right after graduating is challenging. She agreed, and she also added that not all of her batchmates got a career in the industry. But as for her case that she got a job right after she graduated, she emphasizes that it’s not all about her salary, but it’s about how she loves doing and being passionate about her job. A piece of advice from Ms. Audrey is that “The most important thing you do is to know what you want, and that job will be for you and that you’ll work longer in that job.”
As Ms. Audrey talks about her favorite part of her job, she can meet and work with her favorite idol/celebrities in person. But the thing that she most loved talking about is when she shares about her celebrity crush “Robi Domingo.” The smile on her face when she was talking about Robi. She was fangirling Mr. Robi. She shared in detail that she had adobo for lunch, then she saw him walking towards the elevator. She hurried and packed up without finishing her meal and run as she could reach Robi. As Robi was inside the elevator, she immediately stuck her hand in the entryway and successfully got inside with her celebrity crush. Despite her feeling so tired and sweaty from hot weather and running, she still asks Robi for a photo. As she shows us the picture of both of them, the look on her face was priceless; she was smiling so widely. I was very happy for her. That was not the last time she and Robi got to see each other; they encountered when she started working in PBB, Robi is a host in the show, and from that, she got to work and bond with Robi. She said that she and Robi now are “friends.”
Ms. Audrey believed in the saying of PAANO KO MALALAMAN, KUNG HINDI KO SUSUBUKAN, “How will I know If I don’t try.”
She believed in herself that she could do it, and by trying, she discovers what she can do. She grabbed the opportunity given to her, and she believed in herself that she could do it. Then, in the end, she gained something. She thought that if she would have refused that opportunity, she might not get it next time. (GRAB THE OPPORTUNITY WHILE YOU CAN, YOU MIGHT REGRET IT IN THE END) “I WILL LEARN IT ALONG THE WAY” OPEN TO LEARNING NEW THINGS. not only she earns money, but she earns self-discovery.
Ms. Audrey inspire me. She is living proof that a dreamer can live the life they once dreamed of and achieve the goals by never giving up and accepting the opportunities provided. Like her, she once dreamed of entering the PBB House, and she dreamed of being a housemate, but God has better plans for her. She might not be a housemate in PBB but, she now works in PBB. She knows the technicalities done that ordinary people don’t know about the show.
